It was a lovely warm day at Duxford for its first show of the year, the Spring air Show. I haven't done that much airshow photography but with the Battle of Britain Memorial flight and the Red Arrows due I went equipped to make most of the opportunity. I took along the Nikon D800, my infrared converted D700 and several lenses. My main lens was the Nikon 200-400mm f/4 Mk 1 to which I added the 1.7x teleconverter. Actually, on occasion this was too much lens and I needed something slightly shorter. The shot above was done at the 200mm lens setting and I just managed to cram in the Red Arrows flying in with four WWII fighters. The Red Arrows were the last act on, by which time my arms were struggling to hold the 200-400mm steady.
